Storm Sewer Improvements

  • Manhole structure reconstructions on Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave, and Lamon Ave

  • Began the roadway pavement restoration

Blackhawk Rd and Romona Rd

  • Installed the traffic control lane closures on Lake Ave, and set up the detour for Romona Rd south of Lake Ave 

  • Saw cut the pavement in preparation for the storm sewer installation  

  • Began installation of tree protection fencing and performed tree root pruning

  • Removed the pavement and set up the barrier wall for the underground junction chamber work at Romona Rd on the south side of Lake Ave

  • Complete the roadway pavement removal

  • Grade the roadway in preparation for the first layer of asphalt  

  • Asphalt paving is tentatively scheduled between May 8th – May 12th

  • Roadway access will be maintained for residents

  • There will be no parking on the road during the roadway restoration process between the hours of 7AM-5PM

  • Residents can expect a higher volume of construction truck traffic during these operations

  • Storm sewer work on the south side of Lake Ave

  • Begin building the large, underground junction chamber on the south side of Lake Ave

 

Traffic Expectations:

  • The two southbound lanes of Lake Ave will be closed at Romona Rd, however two-way traffic will be maintained utilizing the north side lanes

  • The southbound intersection of Romona Rd and Lake Ave will be closed for the next month  

  • Residents can expect light construction traffic in the area   

April 2020

Project Update - 04/24/2020

Storm Sewer Improvements

Work Completed This Week: Monday,  04/20/2020 to Friday, 04/24/2020

Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave & Lamon Ave

This week DiMeo has completed the concrete removals on the east side of Lamon Ave.  They have also installed the first lift of HMA asphalt in the driveways, and excavated for the rain gardens at Lavergne Ave and Washington Ave.  DiMeo has begun installing the topsoil in the parkways and sod will follow in the upcoming weeks.  Schroeder has finished framing and pouring the curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway aprons on the east side of Lavergne Ave, south side of Washington Ave and east side of Lamon Ave.  All driveway access on the east side of Lavergne Ave, Lamon Ave and Washington Ave will be restored by April 23, 2020.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Work Scheduled For Next Week:  Monday, 04/27/2020 to Friday, 05/01/2020

Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave & Lamon Ave

Next week DiMeo will finish installing the topsoil in the parkways.  They will also start performing the reconstruction of the roadway structures.  Towards the end of the week, roadway restoration will begin with the reclamation of the roadway, which is a pulverizing of the existing pavement.  This material will then be removed and hauled off the site.  Access to your driveways will be permissible when the contractor is not in front of your house.  Full access will be available at the end of each day if disturbed.  Detailed information will be provided in an upcoming notice.

Traffic Expectations:

Roadway access will be maintained for residents in the area, however the residents can expect some minor delays during construction hours.

Blackhawk Rd and Romona Rd

Next week DiMeo will mobilize on Romona Rd and Blackhawk Rd and perform some preliminary items, including installing the traffic control and saw cutting the pavement.  DiMeo will also set up the tree protection and their landscape subcontractor will perform the tree root pruning.  Toward the end of the week, DiMeo will begin the storm sewer work starting on the south side of Lake Ave at Romona Rd with the connection into the existing storm line.

Traffic Expectations:

Tuesday, April 28, 2020 the contractor will be setting up lane closures on Lake Ave.  The storm sewer work will require the two southbound lanes to be closed at Romona Rd.   Two-way traffic will be maintained utilizing the north side lanes.  In conjunction with the lane closures on Lake Ave, the southbound intersection of Romona Rd and Lake Ave will be closed for the next month while the junction chamber is constructed.  On Tuesday April 28, 2020 the detour route for southbound Romona Rd will be installed.  Signage for both the lane closure and detour will be clearly marked and with the current lower traffic volume we do not expect alot of traffic impacts.

Storm Sewer Improvements

Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave & Lamon Ave

This week DiMeo has completed the concrete removals on the east side of Lavergne Ave and the south side of Washington Ave.  Schroeder framed and poured the curb and gutter on the east side of Lavergne Ave and the concrete sidewalk, curb and driveways aprons on Lamon Ave.   All driveway access on the west side of Lavergne Ave was opened back up to the residents on Monday, April 14, 2020. 

Work Scheduled For Next Week:  Monday, 04/20/2020 to Friday, 04/24/2020

Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave & Lamon Ave

Next week DiMeo will finish the removal of the concrete items on the west side of Lamon Ave. They will also start adjusting the manhole frames down to prepare for the pavement restoration.  Schroeder will finish pouring the remaining concrete items on Lavergne Ave and frame and pour the concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter and driveway aprons on the south side of Washington Ave and the west side of Lamon Ave.  All concrete work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the week.  Due to some poor weather conditions, all driveway access on the east side of Lavergne Ave will be opened back up to the residents on Thursday, April 23, 2020.

Project Update - 04/10/2020

Storm Sewer Improvements

Work Completed This Week: Monday,  04/06/2020 to Friday, 04/10/2020

Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave & Lamon Ave

DiMeo has completed the removal of the concrete curb, sidewalk and driveway aprons on the west side of Lavergne and the north side of Washington.   Schroeder & Schroeder has begun the concrete restoration and will have installed the curb on the west side of Lavergne and a majority of the sidewalk and driveway aprons on the west side by the end of this week April 10, 2020. 

Work Scheduled For Next Week:  Monday, 04/13/2020 to Friday, 04/17/2020

Lavergne Ave, Washington Ave & Lamon Ave

Starting next week, April 13, 2020, DiMeo will begin the concrete removals on the West side of Lamon.   They will then move on to the concrete removals on the east side of Lavergne once all the residents are back into their driveways on the west side of Lavergne.   Schroeder & Schroeder will begin concrete restoration following the removals.   Weather dependent, the concrete restoration in the neighborhood should be completed within the next couple weeks.  

March 2020

Construction Update:

DiMeo will begin remobilizing the week of March 30th to complete the remaining work for the Neighborhood Storage Project – Phase 1A on Lavergne, Washington, and Lamon.   Preliminary work including surveying, traffic control, and saw cutting will be completed March 30th - April 3rd.   Concrete restoration will start on Lavergne beginning April 6th.  

 

Local access will be allowed during construction hours, however, please note there may be minor delays during this time.

December 2019

Construction Update:

DiMeo has completed all the underground work on Lamon Avenue.  Temporary patching has been installed and restoration of the roadway will be suspended until the Spring.

Construction Update:

DiMeo will be completing the storm sewer installation on Washington December 4, 2019.  Storm sewer work to begin on Lamon on December 5, 2019.   All storm sewer work on Lamon will be completed December 12, 2019.  Temporary pavement patching on Washington will begin Friday, December 6, 2019.   All storm sewer trenches including Lamon will be paved by December 13, 2019.

November 2019

Construction Update

DiMeo has installed the temporary patching on Lavergne and Orchard.  Full access of both Orchard and Lavergne will be maintained for the rest of the Winter.

Next week DiMeo will be:

 

  • Continuing the installation of the storm sewer on Washington.

  • Restoring the parkways on Orchard.

Construction Update

Lavergne, Washington, Lamon:   DiMeo finished installing the main line storm sewer and the sanitary sewer on Lavergne and made all the lateral connections.  The storm sewer on Washington was started on Wednesday and will continue the week after Thanksgiving.  Next week DiMeo plans on installing the temporary pavement patch over the sewer trenches on Lavergne prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

  

Orchard:  DiMeo removed curb and sidewalk on Orchard and excavated / graded for the installation of the curb and sidewalk.  Schroeder and Schroeder poured the curb and gutter, and the sidewalk.  Residents with driveways behind the new curb and sidewalk will have access to their driveways on Monday afternoon.  Monday of next week DiMeo will be restoring the asphalt driveways and installing temporary patching on Orchard.  Restoration adjacent to sidewalk will also occur next week.

 

Please note that the contractor will not be working Thursday and Friday of next week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Construction Update

Lavergne, Washington, Lamon:  DiMeo Brothers have continued with the storm sewer installation on Lavergne.  Storm sewer and sanitary sewer work on Lavergne to be completed by the end of next week, November 22nd.  Junction Chambers at Washington also to be completed by November 22nd.  Storm sewer work to begin on Washington the week of November 24th.  Temporary pavement patching has been installed on Lavergne from Wilmette to Washington.  All temporary patching to be completed on Lavergne before Thanksgiving. 

 

Orchard:  All underground utility work has been completed on Orchard.  Restoration work to begin November 18th with the installation of curb, sidewalks and driveways.  Weather dependent, pavement restoration or temporary pavement patching will follow the week of November 24th.

Construction Update

Lavergne, Washington, Lamon:  DiMeo has continued with the installation of the 36” storm sewer and has completed the installation at the intersection of Washington and Lavergne.  Work has also begun at this intersection on the junction chamber and box culverts. This work is estimated to be completed by November 18, 2019.  Storm sewer work north of Washington is to begin the week of November 18, 2019.

 

Orchard: 

  • All storm sewer and watermain work will be completed on Monday, November 11, 2019. 

  • Restoration of the curb, sidewalk and driveways will begin Tuesday, November 12, 2019 with excavation and prep work. 

  • The curb and gutter is expected to be installed on Thursday, November 14, 2019.

  • Sidewalk will be installed on Friday, November 15, 2019, weather dependent.

October 2019

Construction Update:  The West Side Neighborhood Storage Project is underway on both Orchard and Lavergne.  DiMeo is working with two full crews!  One is currently installing the new 36” Diameter Pipe on Lavergne and will continue with the installation into next week.  The other crew has installed the watermain on Orchard and has begun the installation of the 24” storm sewer.  DiMeo's subcontractor is also working on installing the junction chamber at the intersection of Lavergne and Wilmette.  

 

The week of October 28th DiMeo will continue working on the storm sewer between Wilmette and Washington and the storm sewer on Orchard.  DiMeo will also begin transferring water services from the existing water main to the new water main on Orchard.  Please note not all homes on Orchard feed off this watermain so not all residents will be affected.  

Construction Update: DiMeo will start the construction on Orchard between Romona and Redbud on October 21th.  All thru traffic on Orchard will be detoured to Locust during daytime hours, typically 7AM-5PM.  Please be aware that the Locust Detour is schedule to be removed the week of October 28th so please plan accordingly and allow additional time to get to your destination during this work. 

 

The intersection of Romona and Orchard will have periodic lane closures outside of school arrival and dismissal times.  Weather dependent the underground work should be completed in 2-3 weeks and roadway restoration to be completed in the 2 weeks following the underground completion.

Construction Update:  DiMeo will start working on the storm sewer on Lavergne between Wilmette and Washington on October 16th.  All thru traffic from Washington to Wilmette will be detoured during daytime hours, typically 7AM – 5PM.   The intersection of Wilmette and Lavergne will also be closed during this time.   These closures are anticipated to last 3 weeks.   During construction hours DiMeo will provide access to driveways within the closure as work allows.
